About Us
Thank you for checking out our web site and store. We are Jim & Deb Dysinger. We have lived in Colorado all our lives. We have both been in the business world for most of our careers other than a small business at Lake Powell for 5 years. We have loved collecting since we can remember. Our favorite thing to collect is history of Colorado. We love true antiques and not reproductions like you see so much anymore. We are not a craft shop. We have true antiques and collectibles. We buy sale and trade at our store. We love to buy local antiques, mining history, vintage and antique jewelry. We then document their history if available to us for future generations.
Deb's dad started coming to Idaho Springs back in the 1950's in hopes of starting a gold mining operation. This is where the GOLD RUSH BEGAN in Colorado! He then proceeded to collect gold mine claims at tax sale for the next few decades. He loved to barter and ended up with over 300 claims at one time in this area. Our family still owns over 160 gold claims including a gold mill up Trail Creek and 100 acre placer claim. I guess you could say mining and the history of mining is in our blood. We love collecting old maps of the area.
My husband Jim retired at 65 and decided to open the antique shop. His family has been into antiques and gold and silver buying for over 75 years. His brother has a gold and silver shop in Tulsa OK and has had for over 60 years. Jim's parents were collectors of antiques in Hooker OK (Panhandle area) for over 75 years. They were experts in antique furniture and glass. Jim grew up with antiques and a great passion for them.
Please come see us at our little store. We do not consign. The things in our shop are mostly ours other than two talented friends. One in Native American Jewelry and the other in antique stoves. In the spring we have a lovely garden and vintage garden items to enjoy and buy of your garden. Deb is preparing now for the Spring.
We look forward to meeting you and talking about Idaho Springs history and our lovely town. God Bless and Happy Trails.
